Another Version of Psalm 27

September 19, 2017 by Chris Gribble

My way unfolds with ever increasing awe,
All around me troubles seek to entice,
Grasping at my fearful uncertainty,
They are always ready to pounce,
Waiting for their opportunity to destroy me,
When my list of failures is insurmountable,
I will take heart in God’s words to me,
Knowing that he has my back.

My true home is found,
God’s loving arms wrapped around me,
Held tight and feeling completely safe,
Gazing into his loving eyes and seeing kindness,
Considering day and night forgiving grace.

My dear enemy is surrounded by love,
His head will bow with shame,
Realising that failure is not the end,
But, the beginning of hope,
His rejection will become his deepest sadness.

Today, I seek God’s word to me,
I long to hear his loving story shared with me,
My proud Father’s merciful tales,
Of his child learning to trust.
