Another Version of Psalm 29

September 21, 2017 by Chris Gribble

Every part of me is designed for praise,
Sharing God’s joy in creative pleasure,
I hear his shouts of wonder,
As he looks at his daily work,
And, joins with me in its daily discovery.

When the day dawns,
Wondrous splashes of colour,
Bring beauty to all creation’s beginning,
He holds nothing back,
Approaching creation with boldness,
Awesome power is harnessed by perfect love.

Praise begins from a heart captured by love,
My Creator also calls me, “Beloved”,
His voice begins all life,
Creation’s words bring life to me,
I don’t need to be afraid,
Eternity has spoken to my heart,
Invited together to share perfect love.

September 20, 2017 by Chris Gribble

The sweet sounding lies of temptation,
Drew me to condemnations curses,
All day they screamed their derision,
Kindness is used to deceive,
The true intent of selfish destruction.

Locked in a prison of despair,
My dear enemy hears only his voice,
The empty hollow echo of his lies,
Are his reward for duplicity,
His promises are quickly forgotten,
But God doesn’t forget his child,
Disloyalty will reap its own reward,
Restoration is coming to God’s child.

Praise is my response to failure,
In my despair I found God’s comfort,
Blessing begins in the heartbreak,
As love is fully revealed in all its wonder,
Praise is my response to God’s justice,
Sheltered by his embrace,
Celebrating the song that is given to me.

September 19, 2017 by Chris Gribble

My way unfolds with ever increasing awe,
All around me troubles seek to entice,
Grasping at my fearful uncertainty,
They are always ready to pounce,
Waiting for their opportunity to destroy me,
When my list of failures is insurmountable,
I will take heart in God’s words to me,
Knowing that he has my back.

My true home is found,
God’s loving arms wrapped around me,
Held tight and feeling completely safe,
Gazing into his loving eyes and seeing kindness,
Considering day and night forgiving grace.

My dear enemy is surrounded by love,
His head will bow with shame,
Realising that failure is not the end,
But, the beginning of hope,
His rejection will become his deepest sadness.

Today, I seek God’s word to me,
I long to hear his loving story shared with me,
My proud Father’s merciful tales,
Of his child learning to trust.

September 18, 2017 by Chris Gribble

God knows my heart’s yearnings,
My seeking to follow him always,
I have nothing to hide from God,
My loyalty to him is unquestioned.

Hypocrisy gives with one hand and takes with the other,
Those who pretend to care but give with self interest,
They gather together their imaginary stories,
That mask their true intentions,
Trust is their most destructive weapon,
I am surrounded by the consequences of my loyalty.

I long for God’s words today,
My soul searches for my truest friend,
Where loyalty is our foundation,
Trust is found in God’s healing,
Disappointment’s wounds have cut deep,
But, God’s love brings a sure hope,
That a good heart will alway find its home.

September 17, 2017 by Chris Gribble

Rejection’s pain is where my cry to God begins,
It’s deceptive words shout it’s painful message,
Seeking to gloat over it’s easy victories,
But, soon Rejection will face Truth,
Rejection will be defeated by belonging,
My heart entrusted to Grace’s care.

When I spend all night counting my faults,
God spends day and night whispering hope,
All of my failures are forgotten,
As my compassionate God forgives me,
He doesn’t know how to hold a grudge,
His heart seeks to restore my hope,
When Mercy’s voice is heard.

Rock bottom was my deepest valley,
I lost my way completely,
When I sought to find a friend,
My deepest trust disappeared like vapour,
Hate’s glare replacing love,
Contemptuous words beginning each day,
Seeking to uncover my painful wounds.

God’s face turned to my darkest distress,
Light shone on my uncovered wounds,
My ugliest sins were out in the open,
When there was nowhere to go,
I was brought back to home’s safety,
Love brought out the best in me,
Compassion grew in my heart,
My life is completely open to God’s truth,
Rescued from all my troubles,
Mercy the healing balm for all my sins.

September 16, 2017 by Chris Gribble

Surrounded by love’s protection,
My life is completed,
By the refreshing sounds of hope,
The tough ascents through uncertainty,
Are crowned with the beautiful dawning,
That draws me to the Creator’s heart.

Opposition hears the loving words,
Spoken by Eternity to his beloved,
They are my tormentor’s nightly reminder,
Of the Creator’s care for his loyal child.

My reward is begins each day,
With the blessing of abundance,
Nothing can stop it from coming my way,
Love chases my every thought,
Finding it’s home in the loving words,
That has discovered the goodness in me,
My eternal inheritance of Grace’s kindness.

September 15, 2017 by Chris Gribble

The loneliest path,
Seemed to be God’s choice for me,
Day after day I tried to hear God,
But, I didn’t hear him speak,
I thought my life was worthless,
That God wouldn’t bother with me,
Wretched failure was all I heard.

Surrounded by hate,
Light never entered my day,
My dear enemy loved to tear down,
My daily sobs were his greatest pleasure,
Lord, you felt far away from me,
Vindictive words lashed every trusted promise,
Sacred friendship sacrificed for greed’s desires,
My life hung on by a thread,
With everything taken away,
My end seemed to be very close.

But, my path has become clear,
Hate’s futile yapping is just an annoyance,
The way forward is full of hope,
Struggling steps have become confident strides,
My smile begins from genuine love,
Testifying to the transformation of despair,
Every contemptuous act against me,
God has counted up with righteous wisdom,
My funeral dirge is now a victory anthem,
Sung loud and clear for everyone to hear.

September 14, 2017 by Chris Gribble

My pilgrim journey starts with hope,
Recognising my heart’s desire,
Taking my first steps to eternity,
Sometimes the uncertain path,
Needs Eternity’s guidance,
With each faltering step,
Complete trust is given,
To the source of all my joy,

My dear enemy loves to confuse,
He takes loyal devotion,
Turning it into destruction,
God isn’t distracted from loving,
Confusion’s foolishness is obvious,
Its path is full of empty promises,
Foolishness’ reward is disappointment,
For those who have pursued it,
Their legacy is meaningless,
Wisdom concludes with praise,
Anger is transformed by Love’s gaze,
Its daily assault completely disarmed,
Foolishness defeated by Wisdom’s victory shout.

September 11, 2017 by Chris Gribble

Despair is the yawning chasm,
That swallows everything,
Its hunger is insatiable,
Devouring any goodness,
Destroying all hope.

Hope begins from my deepest despair,
Struggle birthed new possibilities,
My cries for help each night,
Were answered with a new dawn,
Remembering my youthful prayers
God’s love never forgets.

My daily longing is to hear God’s voice,
Learning to desire his will,
Knowing that failure is no longer possible,
My groans and tears heard,
Now, I live with complete confidence,
Each new step taken with the assurance,
That my path’s gifts belong to me.

Everywhere I look I can see God’s hand,
The Creator speaks to the humble heart,
The obvious is stated clearly,
In every beautiful creative detail,
Of this world that we call home,
Day after day the truth shines out,
Its light is radiant and trustworthy,

God’s honest conversation with me,
Always begins with truth,
His questions start with my heart,
And, where I place my trust,
There is no hidden agenda with God,
It’s all out in the open with Him,
A faithful life built on loving conversations,
Is what I desire above all else.

My heart is seeking God’s truth today,
Nothing tucked away for myself,
My life an expression of freedom,
That comes from complete honesty,
God began this beautiful conversation with me,
My life is completely dependent on his voice,
I love each word he speaks to me,
God’s loving acceptance of my humble words,
Is the first step of my daily worship.

September 8, 2017 by Chris Gribble

My first love is always secure,
God’s loyalty protects me daily,
Even when inundated by hate,
He stood by his beloved child.

When my blackest depression,
Surrounded me with its death words,
I had given up all hope,
But, God was listening to my heart,
He never forgot his adored son.

I saw God’s awesome power,
Expressed in holy anger,
The solid wall of hate,
That felt unbreakable,
The words draining my spirit,
To the point of wanting to die,
It all quickly crumbled,
Love wielded all it’s might,
With its holy loving whisper,
Discovering in me all what is good,
And beginning a conversation,
Starting the truth that was always there.

September 7, 2017 by Chris Gribble

My heart is wide open to God’s call,
He hears my pleas for help,
Condemnation wants me to lay awake,
Adding up my failures over and over,
I want to hear my God’s approval,
Letting me know everything will be ok.

My sleepless nights are a reminder,
Of what injustice can do to loyalty,
But, I desired God above all else,
When I found the deepest pit to fall in,
And the stones kept getting thrown,
You saw my brokenhearted pain,
And, wrapped me in your safe arms.

I have looked contempt in the eyes,
Seen it’s selfish grasping for self importance,
That has no consideration for anyone else,
Havoc abounds for those in his way,
Eager to inflict the final death blow,
On those who dare to speak truth.

God’s word is about to be unleashed,
It will cut off every lie told,
Contempt will die on his own sword,
His lies will become his worst enemies,
When truth has the final word,
My deepest longing is for God’s truth,
That gives me my words for this day.

September 6, 2017 by Chris Gribble

I have found God’s safe arms,
In the midst of a thousand hurts,
Caused by the painful pricks,
Of the thousands of cheap trinkets,
That I thought were my pleasure.

Temporary satisfactions quickly fade,
When they are faced by truth.
Joy is found with God’s words,
To his beloved child who seeks loyalty.

He found me in my despair,
And, brought me to my deep gladness,
Then I heard Eternity’s words,
Speaking in Love’s whisper,
Words of enduring endearment,
That become my completed joy.

My life is founded on eternal promise,
Despair’s bottomless death spiral,
Is transformed into a path to possibility,
The way imagined from Creation’s beginning,
Finding its fulfillment in a shared love,
Creator and creation exploring love forever

Another version of Psalm 126

August 23, 2017 by Chris Gribble

Truth has become fully formed in my life,
Everything that was left behind in success’ rush,
Is replaced by riches that cannot be bankrupted,
My life a testimony to the miracle of restoration,
Those who wanted to take everything left with nothing,
While abundance is the only burden that i carry.

The tears that I cried in my darkest nights,
Have watered the hope seeds sown during my despair,
Now my harvest of faithful love is overflowing,
My soul touched by the love of good friends,
Loyalty the balm for every sad word of betrayal.

Blessed are the souls that cry for the poor,
Those who can forget about self pitying laments,
Those who hold visions of eternity as their guide,
Those who seek goodness in every conversation,
A song will replace the sobs of lost friendships,
Love gathers all my sorrows and transforms each sadness into a blessing
My out of tune voice now singing a beautiful melody of hope.

August 21, 2017 by Chris Gribble

I am unapologetic for my first love,
My desire for God present in every conversation,
It’s the gift that forms every thought I have,
The reward that concludes the final word,
The beginning and the end of who I am,
Is cherished with Eternal Love’s approval.

I will no longer be bound by selfish intentions,
Instead I am confident to claim all God’s gifts,
Even when hate words are thrown at me,
Help my trust to stand firm despite their anger.

Test my heart this morning Lord,
Bring blessing to my God centred plans,
Help me to cast aside every distraction,
Temptations belonging to this world are obvious,
Open my eyes Lord to their easy deceit,
So that I can choose my God path,
The one that brings my heart to restful peace,
My life centred in faith while surrounded by anxious activity.

August 19, 2017 by Chris Gribble

In the lonely wastelands of aloneness,
A million barbs painfully forgetting any kindness,
My life a plaything for those who wield power,
Everywhere I look there are painful reminders,
That the hardest battle is always fought within,
Its tumult sweeps over my head swallowing everything,

Healing comes when I let go of my last resort,
Leaving behind my final vestige of shaky trust,
The alpha of this world is the beginning of hope,
Yesterday’s harsh memories dim quickly,
The trap of failure’s repetition released,
When I shift my gaze to what lies ahead,
The way behind is closed forever,
Today and tomorrow’s promise offering hope,
My day begins and ends with celebrating my rescue.

August 18, 2017 by Chris Gribble

My final thoughts tonight are turned to heaven,
The day is almost completed, tomorrow is yet to arrive,
I long for a life that asks the lasting questions,
Questions like; What can I find that is beautiful here?
Or, What is the gift that is in this conversation?
And, the realisation of how precious is the time that we spend together,
I desire to see in everyone’s eyes their true soul.

I pray that I will resist the temptations of pride,
The arrogance that takes and then repays with vindictive greed,
The one who never has enough,
Talking about love but delivering hate freely,
Mercy poured His healing waters on my life,
My day ending remembering God’s blessing given to me.

Another version of Psalm 122

August 16, 2017 by Chris Gribble

Prayer is my safe haven each morning,
This morning I join the faithful choir,
Turning our thoughts firstly to God,
I wait this morning in eager expectation.
For the words that God wants to say to me.

Obedience is my act of faithfulness this morning,
Even though my life is scattered in busy activity,
I bring all my uncertainties about today to Him,
Choosing to stand with those who want this too,
Belonging to those who know their poverty,
Yet are willing to share their Creator’s broken heart.

I pray that I will bring peace to the lives that touch mine today,
I will not be afraid of the thought of rest,
Even though the world demands frantic activity,
I trust my life will be a witness to waiting with God,
My family will be well cared for in the midst of a thousand temptations of selfish desires,
I will love courageously knowing its painful risk,
My gifts given with no reserve, no expectations,
Seeking blessing for all those that I serve,
Come peace today, find a loyal heart this morning.
Amen

August 15, 2017 by Chris Gribble

When life crowds in to overpower hope,
And, I am frantically seeking my escape route,
I know where to find the help that I need,
I will forget the shallow promises that offer everything but do nothing,
Instead I will remember God’s kind loving words.

He will be with you during your worst days,
When the fog of despair flows in and blocks the view,
During your sleepless nights He will be there too,
When your thoughts won’t stop rushing around,
Their busyness not allowing sleep to bring rest,
Day or night he is waiting to help out,
Always ready to bring calm to a turbulent life.

I shelter in God’s caring gaze,
Knowing that everything that I do and say is cherished,
He doesn’t ever let up in his pursuit of loving me,
Creator of the world focussed on my on my life,
He knows what my heart really belongs to,
Watching and waiting to bless me in all I do.

August 14, 2017 by Chris Gribble

Deceit is the brick of betrayal forming a fragile foundation,
On which a wall of hate is built on my sorrows,
My cry is to God to help me understand, Why?

God will show the easy path of betrayal it’s fate,
Each lying sharp barb will return to haunt soon enough,
God is with me and we will not give up on truth.

I make my home in a beautiful green field,
Next to the quiet lake that witnesses beautiful sunsets,
When I am surrounded by beauty I am encouraged to seek the beautiful response,
Here I stand with my God,
Sharing the connection that belongs to a trusted friend,
Talking about our love for peace,
He shelters me from the hater’s vicious attacks,
I am ready for anything trusting God for everything.
