Psalm Eighty Six – Latest Version

October 24, 2018 by Admin

Prayer is my discovery of where life begins,
My most important conversation is with God,
My heart’s cry is to discover all of love’s promise,
Beginning with my words to God,
Trust easily lost with words spoken without truth,
Promises roll glibly off the betrayer’s tongue,
They echo into total nothingness,
Lost in the chasm of brokenness left behind,
It’s when life is at its worst that I cry out,
Happiness is lost with easily forgotten words,
Remembering is the painful reminder of reality,
Regret the betrayer’s only comfort,
I choose to hear God first each day,
Making his words my starting point,
Eternity’s promise is my foundation.

When I am really broken I call out to God,
Easy laughter quickly disappears,
The divided heart will always end in betrayal,
I want to be made whole again,
The violent wrenching that tore me apart,
Restored by the healing mercy of forgiveness,
Weaving a golden thread through my life,
Bringing wholeness under God’s hand.

The hopeless words that demean a pure heart,
Spoken from selfish justification,
Are ended by loving compassion,
That cannot repay betrayal in its measure,
Mercy says stop while guilt seeks to explain,
Shame has endless reasons for failure,
Love brings endless patience faithful to the end.
